Now Playing Tracks

hi megan - i've been struggling lately with bands posting my pictures without the appropriate credit, be it on facebook, twitter or instagram. how do you ensure that you receive credit when it's due? if they ever ask for pictures and I send them over, I always request that they put my name when they use it, but this doesn't always seem to work. thank you!

When I was starting out I watermarked everything. Eventually people started to recognize my style and I stopped. If you’re working with the same bands and keep having the same problem, start making obvious watermarks. When they ask why, explain that they brought it on themselves. If someone is using your photo, and you didn’t send it to them, you have the right to ask them to take it down if they won’t give you credit. If it’s Facebook you can log a copyright claim.

Generally, until you’re established, put a tasteful small watermark in the corner of your images when you send them to bands. Depending on the band, they can literally get hundreds of people sending them photos they think are great, and so they may just honestly not remember who shot what.

Good luck!

"The White Noise"

Having fallen asleep to a movie she’s watched countless times before, Sarah-Louise wakes up to the click of the tape ending and the white noise of static on the tv screen.

She looks around her room, lit only by the glow of her TV.  It doesn’t feel the same right now, but she can’t quite place why… as if she’s still halfway stuck between a dream and the real world.  Something isn’t right.

The static is not very soothing; the light is too bright and the noise is too harsh, but it’s better than the quiet dark.  She only really feels uneasy when there’s nothing there.

Wanting to go back to sleep but at the same time wanting to stay awake, Sarah-Louise tries to hear voices in the white noise… tries to let her mind and ears dissolve into it, absorbing the crackling hisses from the TV screen, perhaps actually hear a poor tormented ghosts’s attempts to take over her hollow soul…

She needs the noise to quiet her brain so she can’t turn off her TV, and she also can’t be bothered to rewind the movie and play it again, so she just lies there with her eyes closed, still being able to see the light of the static through her eyelids.

Shake the Dust

This is pretty funny, pretty cool, and made me smile prettily

This is for the little brothers

For the girls with the brothers who are going crazy,

For the kid who’s always late to class because he forgets the combination to his lockers,

Shake the dust.

This is for the hard men who want love,

but know it won’t come.

For the ones who are told to speak only when you are spoken to and then are never spoken to.
